OCR World Chamopionships 3k and 15k - England, 2018

OCR World championships took place in Essex England, near the nuclear bunker site.
I qualified for the race and initially only took part of the 3km which was obstacle heavy which I thoroughly enjoyed. Although I thought the obstacles would be harder as it was a fairly flat runners course. The next day on the last heat of the day, I bought my entry for the 15km journeyman. Ended up 3rd out of the journeyman class, just couldn't keep up to a russian and a polish racer.
Obstacles were fun, especially the zipline over the water! That was a really cool part of the race. There was also a death slide into the water. My swimming took some time. Overall 60th and 300th out of age and total.

Spartan Race Romania - Sprint, Super

https://obstacleracingmedia.com/race/spartan-review/spartan-race-romania/
Link for my race review above.

I did the sprint and the super. Fun trails, running uphill through the forest and the hill definitely takes a beating on your knees. The most difficult obstacle i had troubles with was the train chain drag. It was a chunk of metal that kept getting stuck in the ground while dragging it uphill. That obstacle took a good 5 minutes. The rig was fun as always :)

Rocky Mountain Beast Spartan July 14, 2018

Weather was really hot. The previous day held the spartan sprint. There were man people fatigued due to heat stroke. I was running up the mountain the following day no shirt, 22km. Johnny designed the course layout which consisted of constant inclines and steep declines. Not many places where you can run.
I completed the course without any penalties. I ended up getting second in my age group which was nice, but I felt that I had a slow pace as I finished in 4 hours and 40 minutes. It was a great workout overall. I cheered on the ultra runners after I was done. Seeing them go up that mountain once again was inspiring. Elevation ascent was 1800m

12 hour Blackops X Warrior Challenge

For the whole recap of the race, see my blog in ORM https://obstacleracingmedia.com/race/x-warrior-black-ops-12-hour-in-barrhead-alberta/
It was a great fun 12 hour race, I ended up running 8 laps with the 40 pound sandbag. Each lap was about 5.5km, total 44km with roughly 1800m in elevation ascent. To begin my story, all finishers were to complete their last lap between the 11th and 12th hour!
I started off the race on a team of 3 running some fun pace. On the second lap my friend had IT problems with the knee, so we finished running the second lap and took a break. The team ended up having some drinks and not the energy kind ;) He wasn't able to run without injury so he told me to keep going individually. I remained running the course with the sandbag because there was a podium for most laps with the sandbag. After lap 5 I was in first!
Every lap after that I just remained in the pit hoping second place wouldn't catch up so I can just chill there haha. Every time they crossed the finish line, I just headed out for the next lap. On my final 8th lap, it was pretty much a sprint to the finish. Caleb was chasing me down and he was coming fast! I ended up crossing the last checkpoint and reaching the finish line about 20 seconds before he did. I had another 20 minutes before the 11th hour so I just waited at the finish line, Caleb kept going. Knowing he crossed that finish line early he had to do another lap. He had 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete the lap. On a fast pace lap like the one we just did, it took us about an hour 10 or an hour 15 minutes, so he had to go fast! Little did I realize he could have just ran the next lap without a sandbag! That didn't even cross my mind. So he technically got first because he crossed the 8th lap finish line before I did.
It was a great race! Super fun, looking forward to more endurance races! Good job on all podiums, X Warrior had so many more than other obstacle races. It would be amazing to see thousands of people participate, we had about 300-500 here. The obstacles were also so much fun!

Lost Waterfalls Hike - Boquete, Panama

Cascadas Perdidas- Lost Waterfalls. Easy Hike, there are 3 waterfalls, total is 5km and 400m of elevation ascend to all three and back to the start. I went during the rainy season, so it started to rain once we got there. $2 taxi/bus to the start location. I decided to hike with a group of 3 from the Netherlands! They were great. Pay toll to enter was $7, which seemed expensive to see some natural waterfalls. We would have entered but the dog was barking. It was fun anyways! :)

Concepcion Volcano, Ometepe, Nicaragua

Volcano 2, Concepcion
It is still an active volcano. The trail for this volcano was different. It started with some jungle trekking, and as you got higher it became a scramble over rocks. One side of the volcano (my ascent) was rocky, but my descent from the other side of the volcano was through vegetation.
Total ascent was over 1500m, took about 2 hours to get up and 2 hours to get down. My IT bands were my weakness this week. Overall a fun hike, you can still smell sulfur on the peak of the volcano and see some gaseous action.

Maderas Volcano, Ometepe, Nicaragua

Volcano 1, Maderas
I was carrying my 10kg bag with me. The ascent was roughly 1300m and took me almost 3 hours. The top of the volcano was really muddy so it took more time. At the top there was a crater of water that you could swim if you wanted. I'm pretty sure I was the only person that had taken a laptop to the top of this volcano :D
The trail contained lots of jungle trekking, maneuvering around the mud and knee deep sink holes, and avoiding hitting your head on trees.

East Rundle Mountain, Canmore, Canada

2.7km, 927m ascent.
It freshly snowed, and we hiked up with knee-deep snow!It took almost 2 hours

Ha Ling Peak, Canmore, Canada

2500m mountain. elevation gain of just under 800m, 1.5hr hike, 2.75km
The trail was more popular than the first hike and the snow was padded down on the trail. Sliding downhill was fun
